From Kilmihil to here!
Just over 3 weeks to go now to our latest fundraiser - A sponsored 75k cycle from Kilmihil to Cratloe, coming up on Saturday July 19th.
As we all know, we have a limited pitch space, which has ever increasing demands being put on it. Last year the club invested significant funds into the main pitch, which had drainage problems and spurring from that came the idea to develop a sand based surface on the existing juvenile pitch, which would be usable all year round, by our senior players, the minor and camogie clubs.
When we were thinking of a theme we looked out onto the pitch and saw Colm Collins, Martin Murphy and co training the football team. At the other side of the pitch was Batt Crowley and crew working on the maintenance of the field and the words of the song its a long way from Clare to here came to mind, as it is a long way from Kilmihil to here!
That is the theme behind the fundraiser - A cycle from the home of Clare football manager Colm Collins, to the home of the Clare football champions of 2013! The development of the juvenile pitch will cost in excess of €30,000 and it is hoped that this cycle will contribute at least €10,000 toward the cost.
Each family in the minor and camogie club will be receiving a sponsorship card to collect funds on behalf of one of our brave cyclists! We are asking that parents would seek sponsorship in their workplace or from family and friends, as U16's are not permitted to do door to door collections.
The committee has been mindful of seeking sponsorship from outside the parish as much as possible, and has secured 23 main sponsors who's names will be printed on the cyclist's jerseys. However, any businesses or individuals who feel they could contribute to this worthy cause can please contact one of the following:
John Ryan 061-357587
Ber Murray 087-6575391
John Keogh 086-2697419
Further information will be available as the event draws nearer. We will keep you up to date on our Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/cratloeGAA Twitter @CratloeGAAClub and here on our website. We look forward to and thank you for your support.
